Around the year 1946 Salvatore Cortesi left the family workshop in Vergiano and opened his own one into the nearby city of Rimini.
Isolated here he was able to work in his own peculiar way and, most of all, he could accept commissions only from the people that agreed with his views.
In 1990 circa Salvatore turned back to his family and, from there onwards, his guns are still signed S. Cortesi but with the serials and punches of Virgilio and Nerio Cortesi.

This one has higly refined mechanics and is in all aspects a gun by Salvatore Cortesi, except from the external finish of the frame and of the sideplates.
The first owner commissioned to Nerio the second set of barrels in 1987 and asked him to make this mirror finish.
Observe that the internal parts, such as the locks and and the inner face of the fore end iron, still maintain the original color case hardening.
